Italy Summons Russian Envoy after Offensive Comments on Meloni
Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani said he called in Ambassador Aleksey Paramonov to formally protest the remarks, describing them as unacceptable and expressing solidarity with Meloni.
Posting on the social media platform X, Tajani said the government was responding to what he termed “extremely serious and offensive statements” directed at the Italian leader.
The diplomatic response followed comments aired on Solovyov’s television program, during which he reportedly used insulting language about Meloni, including calling her a “fascist, a certified idiot, a bad woman.”
